About
Ariel
back
to top^
Amidst terraced hills
and age-old olive trees in the
heartland of Biblical Israel, is the
blossoming city of Ariel. Established in
1978, it has taken Ariel just under
thirty years to emerge as a city that
demands to be noticed. A quick look
around reveals the vitality of the
city. It is unclear what makes her
unique, whether it's the dynamic,
unstoppable mayor, the high percentage
of successful Russian aliyah, or the
home-town feeling with the offerings of
a city.
Though
strategically located in the center of
the country, Ariel’s success surpassed
its wildest dreams. Today known as the
Capital of Samaria, and home to the
Ariel's University Center, her
unprecedented growth, and the undeniable
declaration that Ariel is in the
consensus, all point to the fact that
she is here to stay. Ariel is all about
vision, built with every step planned.
Its newest step, that of formally
opening its doors to North American aliyah, is another dimension of that
unbridled vision. We invite you to
become a part of it, and to both share
in the fruits and to plant your own.
The
community offers opportunities not found
in many enclaves of North American olim.
This includes a chance for real
connection and involvement with Israeli
society and a full expression of the
concept of Achdut, unity. One of her
stronger selling points is the
heterogeneous nature of the community,
based on mutual respect. The key word
here is integration, offering the North
American oleh the opportunity to build a
community within a community, a chance
to enjoy the benefits of a city, the
pleasures of a small community and the
idealism of being part of its growth.
The City of Ariel has established and is
currently operating a sophisticated
networking system which has made Ariel
Israeli's "Smart City". This project
adds a new perspective to the municipal
management as well as to the behavior
patterns of Ariel residents.

City Project:

Residents
back
to top^
Ariel
is a microcosm of Israel. Home to
almost 18,000 residents and another
10,000 students, the city's population
includes all walks of life. Every age
group is represented; approximately
10-15% of the residents are religious,
50% traditional and the rest secular,
every origin of Israelis and immigrants
join together to make up the population.
Over ten years ago the city saw an
influx of a large Russian aliyah, today
representing over half of the residents.
This aliyah was highly successful,
adding much to the cultural and
educational levels of the city. In the
many different neighborhoods that make
up Ariel, there is a keen sense of
interaction and harmony. The city’s
strong point is without a doubt the
emphasis on community.
Education
Pre-School
There are 780 children in Ariel's 26
pre-schools, including kindergartens
specializing in the arts and language
development. Because of the large
percentage of Russian immigrants in
Ariel, the city's pre-school system
operates a special program for learning
Hebrew through the computer.
Elementary Schools
There are 4 Elementary Schools in Ariel
with a total of 1800 pupils. Considered
one of Israel best elementary school
system, each of the 4 schools,
Nachshonim Milken Aliza Begin & Or
Zvulun, specialize in a different field.
All of the schools have "Learning
Through Technology" programs where
children learn, through online research,
to become independent learners.
One of the primary challenges facing the
elementary school system is the
absorption of Russian immigrant's
children. A special project for
immigrant absorption is currently being
implemented in the Aliza Begin
Elementary school.
Religious Education
Or Zvulun, Ariel's religious school
includes pupils from grade one through
nine. This school meets the special
needs of Ariel residents who prefer that
their children receive a religious
education.
Junior
High + High School
In Ariel, there are two Junior High
Schools and a Comprehensive High School
with a total of 1600 students. Because
the High School must serve the needs of
the entire community, almost all Ariel's
students are accepted and very few need
go to schools outside Ariel.
Pedagogical Center
The aim of the Pedagogical Center is to
foster the continual learning of the
city's educational staff through the use
of a wide variety of new educational
updated programs and accessories.
The Pedagogical Center in Ariel is
unique in that it views the whole
education system in an holistic manner.
All the seminars and courses are
implemented in the Pedagogical Center.
The Pedagogical Center encourages the
teachers to use new technologies
available in order to improve their
teaching techniques.
The Ariel
University Center
One of the fastest
growing academic institutions in the
country, offers Bachelor degrees in many
fields (architecture, civil engineering,
chemistry, electronics, biology,
physics, social work, physical therapy
and management to name just a few), as
well as a number of master degree
programs.
Housing
As a
result of the rapid and sustained growth
of Ariel, and the constant development
of building projects, there is a large
choice of housing – apartments, cottages
and separate villas at competitive
prices. Despite its proximity to the
coastal region of Tel Aviv, prices for
sales and rentals are significantly
lower in Ariel, and those who invest in
the city receive far more for their
money than they would in most other
areas.

increased economic advantages resulting
from the expanding opportunities, and a
wider and more accessible market, at

in the community.

Physical
Surroundings

Amidst terraced hills and age-old olive
trees in the heartland of Biblical
Israel, is the blossoming city of Ariel.
Throughout the city there are
breathtaking views of Shomron. The
neighborhoods are quite, clean and
green.
Parks are scattered throughout the city,
enmeshed within the various residential
areas.
Absorption
The
latest advance in Ariel's absorption
services is its program for integrating
North American aliyah. Ariel is now home
to the Community Aliyah Program,
featuring a comprehensive package of
benefits...
Thousands of new immigrants, from the
four corners of the world, have chosen
to build their homes in Ariel and have
been successfully integrated into the
community. The residents of Ariel are
well aware of the sensitivities involved
in absorbing new olim. Similarly, the
community appreciates the added value
that olim bring to their new
environment.
Ariel's success with aliyah absorption
is unsurpassed. Today, over 50 % of
Ariel's population are immigrants from
the former Soviet Union. Many special
programs and projects, from Hebrew Ulpan
classes to rent controlled housing for
senior citizens, have been established
to let the newcomers know they are
wanted and welcome in Ariel.

Aliyah page on their website - full of
great information!
